Abstract: The drastic increase in oncological diseases’ incidence in Bulgaria for the last two decades is a non-controversial issue, supported by wide-scale epidemiological studies and statistical data of the most prestigious institutions in this field. Based on clinical and epidemiological data it could be stated that clear cause-effect relationships between some of the most commonly met cancer diseases and a number of nutritional factors do exist as regarding their carcinogenesis.
On the other hand designing a clear and effective cancer preventative strategy appears to be of utmost importance as regarding people at high risk, cancer patients at the early stage and also cancer patients in need of secondary prophylaxis.
Outlining all of the significant carcinogenic nutritional factors as well as those of proven cancer-preventative effect provides a solid background for designing optimized nutritional plans of minimized risk and maximum protection for each specific patient.
For the sake of maximal efficiency and completeness, the most significant factors of non-nutritional origin which have to be taken into account when designing complete wellness programs for prevention and treatment have also been mentioned at the end of this paper having the personalized cancer preventative nutritional plan at its core.
